DJI’s upcoming Mavic 3 Pro drone, which has been leaked, may be the company’s first model to feature three cameras

According to recent leaks, DJI may soon release a new drone, the Mavic 3 Pro, featuring an innovative three-camera system. Reliable sources have shared an image on Twitter showcasing what appears to be the retail packaging of the new DJI Mavic 3 Pro, which could be available in a bundle that includes the expensive DJI RC Pro controller.

This leak aligns with earlier ones, revealing a camera module with a gimbal stabilizer and three separate lenses. This would be a significant upgrade from the current DJI Mavic 3 model, which only has two lenses with focal lengths equivalent to 24mm and 162mm.

By incorporating three lenses, DJI aims to offer aerial photographers and filmmakers greater versatility comparable to that of high-end mirrorless cameras or flagship smartphones. However, it is not yet clear what specific focal lengths the three cameras will provide. Overall, DJI’s Mavic 3 Pro could be a game-changing drone for professionals and enthusiasts alike.

There have been some leaks regarding the DJI Mavic 3 Pro’s potential camera features. One source, @DealsDrone, suggests that the drone may come equipped with a third camera that supports 3x zoom. If this is true, the Mavic 3 Pro would feature a main wide-angle camera with a 4/3-inch CMOS sensor and a 24mm lens, a second telephoto camera with a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor and a focal length of 162mm, and a third camera with a focal length around 70mm.

However, another DJI leaker, @OsitaLV, has proposed an alternative possibility for the third camera, with a 50mm lens and a 1-inch sensor. Despite the uncertainty, it seems that the DJI Mavic 3 Pro will offer a mid-telephoto option that the Mavic 3 lacks, which could prove useful for capturing details in the landscape.

There is no official release date for the DJI Mavic 3 Pro yet, but pre-launch images of retail packaging are expected to surface soon. According to another reputable leaker, @JasperEllens, the drone will be available in stores shortly.

Is this drone considered the world’s most versatile, according to analysis?

We’ve come to expect at least three cameras on the best smartphone models, and it’s great to see DJI drones following suit by offering such versatility. Not only do these drones feature gimbal stabilization, but their sensors are also larger than those found in most smartphones.

Flying a drone closer to a subject can capture details, but using longer focal lengths allows you to do this without moving the drone from a high vantage point. This also helps keep you in compliance with local drone laws that require maintaining specific distances from people and buildings.

The current DJI Mavic 3 features a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens with a significant gap between them. You can switch between the two by using hybrid digital zoom, but this does come at the expense of image quality. Therefore, adding a mid-telephoto option between the existing cameras would make the Mavic 3 Pro an even more versatile aerial photography platform.

The upcoming DJI Mavic 3 Pro is expected to come packed with cutting-edge features that will elevate it to a professional-grade drone. Leaked images of the DJI RC Pro controller reveal a sleek new design with an integrated display, likely providing an enhanced user experience.

However, these advancements will come at a premium cost. The launch price for the Mavic 3 was $2,199 / £1,879 / AU$3,099, and the DJI Mavic 3 Cine Premium Combo bundle, which included the DJI RC Pro controller, was priced at $4,999 / £4,279 / AU$7,199. With additional features such as an extra lens, the base bundle for the Mavic 3 Pro is expected to be more expensive than its predecessor, positioning it as a high-end option for professionals.

Despite the high cost, the Mavic 3 Pro is still expected to be more affordable than the rumored DJI Inspire 3, which is also speculated to launch around the same time.
